Jonathan Velardi graduated from The Slade School of Fine Art, London in 2007. His mixed media practice of animation, illustration, film and sculpture, predominantly focuses on print through digital and silk-screen processes.
Popular culture lies at the core of Velardi's research and production. His meticulous analysis of the everyday appropriates a visual language loaded with symbols and stereotypes that exist in an aspiring twenty-first century. Sourced from a consumer-driven dependency and bourgeois ideology, his design-conscious practice cross-fertilizes social and cultural identities, reinterpreted through notions of the decorative, to create new narratives of familiarity. Bridging the colonial with the contemporary through saturated seduction.

Velardi's work has been exhibited internationally and nationwide throughout Great Britain. His interest in working within public spaces has lead to Public Art commissions to produce large-scale installations and billboard animations that have incorporated projects with local communities and schools, which contribute to an extensive portfolio.
